IMARKUP SOLUTIONS ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF THE CUSTOMIZATION AND BRANDING OPTION Product Enhances Workgroup Server, Extends iMarkup Transparently in Enterprise Environments

San Diego, CA – June 11, 2001 – iMarkup Solutions Inc., (www.imarkup.com), a leading provider of web-based productivity tools, today announced the general availability of its Customization and Branding Option (CBO), an enhancement to iMarkup™ Workgroup Server. Developed to address the needs of enterprise users seeking tools for collaborating on the Web, iMarkup Workgroup Server enables groups of users to apply annotations to actual “live” Web pages, then share those pages and annotations with others with whom they are collaborating. The Customization and Branding Option enables customers to integrate the capabilities of iMarkup within their respective content management systems and for iMarkup to run transparently within their applications.
“By
incorporating iMarkup’s robust and extensible technology into existing
applications, businesses can define the features that are appropriate for
their products, services and users. The CBO’s modular architecture
enables these enterprises to maximize users’ productivity and
efficiency,” commented John O’Brien, president and CEO of iMarkup
Solutions. In introducing the server product, the company made the
award-winning technology of iMarkup available to groups of knowledge
workers collaborating on the Web. “After enterprise customers began
working with the Server product, we received a number of requests to
provide a product that could be integrated into a company’s existing
content manager, as well as their log-on and authentication procedures.
They also wanted to customize the client interface and brand it for their
users,” O’Brien added.
The
Customization and Branding Option allows a company to define annotations
and to have them appear as part of the services they provide to their
clients or user community. These annotations can also be integrated and
stored within their existing databases and queried to generate reports.
Just as the iMarkup Workgroup Server has transformed the static
presentation of Web browsing into a rich, collaborative, interactive
environment, so has the Customization and Branding Option enabled
companies to define the annotations collaborators can use, integrate the
annotations into their applications and customize links to provide
information regarding internal processes and guidelines. And an XML data
interface on the server expedites the exchange of information.
Another
common request has been the ability to distribute a limited subset of
sticky notes, ones that workgroup members might ‘typically’ use. Each
company can identify the sticky notes that would work best within its
particular workgroup. With the CBO, companies can now "brand" sticky notes that specify Urgent, Needs Approval,
Draft etc. Additionally, companies can place specific sticky notes (for
example, ‘Approved’ to trigger an event such as sending an email to
those involved in a specific transaction.) The CBO enables customers to
deploy only those sticky notes that are compatible with their internal
process, streamlining and simplifying the markups for their users.
To
run the Customization and Branding Option you must install iMarkup
Workgroup Server. Any applications running under Windows or Unix can
interface to the product.
