Los
Angeles, Calif. – Oct 8, 2003
– iMarkup Solutions, Inc., (www.imarkup.com), a leading provider of
web-based collaboration tools, today announced its newest technology,
iMarkup Server V4. Premiering at Content World, the product integrates
iMarkup’s Document Review and Content Review Server products, enhancing
them with a workflow engine and a web-based ‘knowledge view’ builder. The
product’s ad-hoc and structured workflows, graphical workflow
administration and ability to mirror existing business processes provides
users with the ability to manage, distribute, locate, collaborate on,
annotate and review documents and digital content. iMarkup Server V4 technology allowed Xerox Corporation to implement a centralized and automated process to manage content for the company’s dynamic, customer-facing web site, at www.xerox.com. The digital content, which involves 18,000 web pages in more than 10 languages and available within 26 countries, requires translation, extensive verification and validation prior to being published throughout Europe, Canada, Latin America and South America.
Xerox also wanted an
electronic workflow system that would indicate the status of translations,
reduce review cycles and allow for comprehensive input from the countries.
As a result of using iMarkup Server V4, Xerox.com has automated its
workflow process, reduced training for in-country teams, and made
monitoring of status and re-direction of overflow tasks easier and more
efficient. “When you are globalizing a web site, ensuring reliable
delivery to the project schedule is critical. iMarkup’s workflow process
helps our team collaborate on web pages in real time and communicate more
effectively, ensuring Xerox customers always receive accurate and timely
information around the world,” said Susie Klinck, Senior Content Manager
for Xerox.com. IMPROVING BUSINESS WORKFLOW With a workflow that mirrors existing processes and has been specifically designed for business users, iMarkup Server V4 allows users to create their own workflow definitions, eliminating the need to involve IT. Because of the ease of use of its browser-based interface, each department can control, modify and change its workflow definitions and subsequently publish approved documents. iMarkup’s dynamic workflow (also known as ad hoc) is well suited for collaboration teams needing to manage workflow quickly, without knowing the entire process ahead of time. iMarkup’s web-based workflow administration then graphically shows users both historical and real-time reports about the review lifecycles (of both documents and content).
iMarkup Server V4
also introduces an integrated knowledge management function that
simplifies the management and distribution of documents and content. This
component provides content classification, allowing approved documents to
be automatically published and made available to internal and external
users. Content classification provides a “knowledge based” distribution of
documents (e.g. policies and procedures.) When a business user adds or
modifies a document, the content categorization data is selected, causing
the document to be automatically associated with the appropriate end-user
classifications. Published documents then become available through iMarkup
Knowledge Views. A Knowledge View allows authenticated and anonymous users
to navigate and retrieve related documents based on their classifications;
it offers a simplified, focused view that presents end users with only the
exact information they need. Knowledge Views form the foundation for
intelligent navigation, searching, retrieval, data mining, and ultimately,
delivery of information and knowledge to the users.
iMarkup Solutions (www.imarkup.com)
provides real-time, web-based collaboration tools that enable end users to
communicate, annotate and organize information via the web. The company
develops tools that improve workflow and enable users to maximize their
efficiency, working as intelligently with electronic information as they
do with paper-based information. The iMarkup product line includes iMarkup
Server V4 and the iMarkup Client. iMarkup’s technology has earned numerous
awards and recognition from publications such as ZDNet, Computerworld,
Internet World, InternetWeek and eDoc and at major tradeshows including
Networld + Interop and Internet World. The company is privately held and
